This is an absolutely freaking adorable intial-misunderstanding-to-ongoing-antagonism-to-maybe-I-misjudged-you-to-oh-crap-I-love-you romance! Henley and Graeme are super cute (I think I’m legitimately in love with Graeme?) and Henley’s sister Walsh and would-be admirer Nikolai are wonderfully memorable.
Henley Evans has put everything into her job as a marketing manager at Seaquest Adventures. Friends? Dates? Fun? Who has the time? She has Goals, and nothing is going to get in her way – not even obnoxious (and infuriatingly hot) remote social media manager, Graeme Crawford-Collins, whom her male chauvinist of a boss loves. Ugh.
Now Henley’s finally up for the promotion of her dreams and who is she going up against? None other than Graeme. But that’s not even the worst part. Henley and Graeme each have to come up with a proposal for boosting sales on cruises to the Galápagos while on a cruise to the Galápagos. Together. For the first time ever.
But Graeme isn’t remotely what Henley expects and soon she’s questioning everything she thinks she knows about her opponent, errr coworker. As a simple physical attraction and wary friendship blossoms into more, Henley has to decide what she really wants in life. Add in the hijinks of flirty younger sister and an overly-amorous Russian chiropractor and you have a cruise to remember.
Henley’s journey of self-discovery was a joy to experience. I am nothing like Henley – I’m not a workaholic, have no plans to get a master’s degree, am an expert at relaxing, and spend most of my money on traveling. (Although I am in digital marketing and learned that reading about characters in your profession is a trip.) That being said, I did understand what drove her and her need for excellence. I love that Henley learns to open her heart and experience life in the moment while still nurturing her passion for what she does. Also…did I already mention that I’m in love with Graeme? He’s great. They’re great.
[Also her boss gets what’s coming to him and it is EXTREMELY satisfying.]
Shipped is a fantastic debut novel from Angie Hockman and I look forward to seeing what she does next!
